With the economic climate looking as bleak as the weather at the moment what are retailers doing to capture the hearts and most importantly the wallets of customers this Christmas. With the UK high street seeing another dip in consumer spending it is even more essential that retailers focus on what will excite and entice customers to spend in their stores.
Creating a sense of theatre and fun and making a destination point for the family to enjoy a day out shopping will be much more appealing than the thought of struggling to park and fighting through the hordes of shoppers looking for a Christmas bargain. We popped along to Selfridges to take a look at their iconic Christmas Window Display.
Selfridges once again have hit the mark and created a display encompassing all the values of Christmas such as family and being together at home this year.
We all know that Selfridges appeals too and targets a slightly more affluent market than the majority of shoppers but their attention to detail and their ability to create a shopping experience that people talk about for years to come has a massively powerful impact on consumers.
If retailers are to succeed up to and through the Christmas trading period their focus should be on creating theatre and adding value to the shopping experience rather than driving volume and winning customers through those big red signs saying SALE.
Our Verdict : 9/10 – Another Great Display – Bring on Christmas!
